Main focus:

Scene Work & Filming

During this workshop, you’ll spend four days working intensively on a scene with a scene partner, guided by Cielke Bessemans using the Chubbuck Technique.

On day 6, your scene will be filmed on our professionally equipped film set using professional filming equipment. Day 5 is a rehearsal day, giving participants time to practise on the set. On day 7 (Sunday, one week later), we’ll watch and discuss the filmed scenes together.

The result is a finished scene you can use in your showreel.
During the shoot day, you’ll also get a hands-on introduction to how a film set works.

Alongside scene work, you’ll train in:

  • Being present in the moment and responding to impulses (Meisner Technique)

  • Imagination and character development

  • Pushing your physical and mental boundaries

These exercises are designed to deepen your performance and strengthen your skills as an actor.

Preparation

A few weeks before the workshop starts, you’ll be assigned a scene (approximately three pages) from an existing film. You can perform your scene in English or Dutch, depending on your preference.

You must have your lines fully memorised by the first class — without adding emotion, intonation, or acting choices!

You’ll also read the full film script in English, so a good command of English is essential.
